The app was working before then I notice the app deleted itself, so I tried downloading from the store, when the store said that it was done downloading, I check it if it was there. Sure enough, Music wasn't there. Plz FIX!!!
1 December 2014
I loved this app it WAS awesome but then this update came and it SUCKS
you can not get a song unless you pay for it and you can not listen to the whole song unless you own all my fave songs were and I did not pay for them so I can not listen to them this Is and will be the worst app update in my whole life I am so mad I do not have a iPhone so I do not have iTunes raido so I can not listen to songs please change this app back to how it was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
17 January 2015
MP3'S THAT I OWNED AND RIPPED ONTO MY COMPUTER HAVE NOW BEEN CLAIMED MY XBOX MUSIC'S DRM. I NOW NEED AN XBOX MUSIC PASS TO LISTEN TO SONGS THAT I OWN. THE MUSIC MATCHING FUNCTION CHANGED THE VERSIONS OF THE SONGS I HAD. DIFFICULT TO FIND REMIXES ARE NOW GONE.
DRM ON XBOX MUSIC IS A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE. IF YOU HAVE NOT YET DONE SO, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT LET THIS PROGRAM ACCESS YOUR MUSIC FILES.
YES, I AM USING ALL CAPS, BECAUSE I AM YELLING AND YELLING WITH GOOD REASON.
18 June 2014
I love the access this app gives me to music, both my own music library and all the music from the store. However, I've found the app to be incredibly unreliable, requiring multiple uninstall/reinstalls, mostly due to the apps constant inability to sign me in (despite being on a Windows 8 pc that is connected with my Microsoft account). I also have found that playlists don't synch properly across my devices. Like I said, I love this app when it works, but be prepared to be frustrated about 40% of the time.
19 March 2015
The app will simply stop playing after about 3 tracks. It doesn't matter if its streaming or local, is just stops. Quite annoying.
Edit 18Mar2015: Still stuck with that problem.
22 June 2013
I miss the old social features from Zune. It also needs better playlist support and social features similar to Spotify. On my Surface RT it is still rather laggy and unstable. Please fix this! Other than that, I love Xbox Music and my Xbox Music Pass.
22 December 2014
Getting better with each release? still extremely slow and unbearable at times to use, some times completely non-functional and needs a reboot in order to get working. Constant crashing or stops working requiring you to close and reopen.
30 November 2014
Lag, lag, lag. how to buy music=search artist> find artist> open relevant page> then stair at a page that has no link to purchase the artist. WTF MS.... Loaded my PERSONALLY OWNED music onto my tablet. Hit play, and got ads before I could hear my own personally owned music. MICROSOFT THIS IS DISGUSTING! The Xbox music experience has gotten worse. Also still won't play music on the SD card. Won't recognize or update the license to allow play back. Media monkey recognizes the same SD card and music and plays everything just fine and has an equalizer to. MS you stink.
2 December 2014
I had amassed a collection of over three hundred songs, and this last update removed all of them, and made it so you have to pay to listen to anything at all, whereas it used to be free. Great job Microsoft, I'll never be using this application again.~
13 March 2015
Very clunky, and downright stupid.
I re-installed Zune software just so that I can actually listed to my music and have a User Interface that makes sense. I miss the customization of Zune.
21 January 2015
I really want to use this app as every other music manager also sucks. But between having to manually delete each playlist (at least 4 clicks per delete, times several hundred playlists), and what appears to be a maximum of 1000 songs per playlist makes this app useless for syncing music to my phone.
Please improve this app. It desperately needs it.
20 December 2014
what have you done, massive windows and xbox fan loved the zune, and you go and bring the most stupidest app ever for music. I now have to buy a music pass to play my music or it disappears even after I have burned a CD.
25 December 2014
My issues with this app:
* UPDATE: 12/25/14. I got an error message saying that there were "server problems, meaning I couldn't SIGN IN to listen to the mp3s on MY MACHINE!
* Limited visualization options. In the now playing, one gets images of the band or weird shapes. Where is the cool album art?
* Latest update wants me to sign up for Xbox Music pass to listen to my own music.
DO NOT UPDATE!!!
* It automatically uploads music to cloud (unless you turn the option off), and if doesn't upload everything, it will only play what you've uploaded and only when connected to wifi.
* Plays ADS when listening to YOUR music on the cloud. I might as well listen to Pandora.
* Doesn't always add new additions to your library.
17 December 2014
EVERYTHING is so difficult to do. I don't understand why Microsoft cant make the interface just not fully useless.
cant change my account, cant delete this playlist, cant do this cant do that. apple perfected the music library and Spotify perfected streaming years ago, why cant Microsoft just give me atleast a 2006 level music program?!?!!?
21 April 2015
I've gone up and down rating this app since it was first introduced. First and foremost, compared to Zune, it is awful. That being said, it was workable, and the MS team has added many new features that seem useful. I have been a paid Zune and xBox Music subscriber for years. This app seems to want to download new copies of my subscribed music on a whim. It's different every time I start the app. It's gotten to the point where I am afraid to open the application because I know it will download a new copy of many songs. Right now, I am waiting for it download 5000 songs! Why? I don't know. What I do know is that I can't do anything else, because the Music app does not support multitasking... which begs the question, why am I wasting time with this review? I still have 3800 songs to go.
27 October 2014
It is so slow and lagggggy. This is a basic experience that you guys need to nail if you are to compete with other operating systems. Music is a staple, not a luxury. Make it work as expected by your users, not as you see fit.
15 June 2014
MSFT needs to do better load/limit testing on this app. It is unable to process newly added local songs if the initial database build goes over a certain number of songs.
I have 187,000+ local carefully curated VBR *.wma files with 500px album art embedded. If I launch the Music app after an initial database build (which is iffy) the runtime broker eats up all existing system memory and has to shut down. No new local songs added. Review my logs to help fix this issue or up the handling so this memory leak doesn't happen.
26 April 2015
They charge for the radio now, and the radio playlist generation is not as good as Pandora's. GUI is great on now playing screen with full backdrop of artist pics. Find myself hardly using it howadays especially with lack of flac support.
14 March 2015
It is so annoying to have to reconfigure my playlists every time this app gets updated. Word to the wise: Do not try and mix ripped PC albums/songs (.wav, .wma lossless, etc.) with downloaded Music app songs (.wma 192kbs) in a playlist. Microsoft can't even seem to figure out how to allow songs you actually paid for and downloaded (.mp3 320kbs) through the app to play nicely with the songs they rent you... FUBAR and frustrating.
24 January 2015
This App doesn't play music, just gets stuck here and there.
22 January 2015
it is not sample to use.
9 August 2013
It's too laggy on Asus VivoTab RT
23 November 2014
Everytime I load the Music app, it crashes. If I minimise and open it again it does it again, closing the app does nothing, I've even tried to restart my PC and reinstall it, but it still crashes.
17 March 2015
I waited 3 days fro this new PC to catalogue all my music, then tried to use this. NO way to just listen to what you like, terrible search functions, no way to just listen without creating play lists and other time wasting garbage.
26 September 2014
App is completely broken after yesterdays update. Within a minute of playing any song (cloud or local), the app crashes. Please fix this!!!
Edit: Uninstalling & reinstalling the app seems to have fixed the problem.
18 October 2014
After getting an Xbox One I decided to give music pass and Xbox music a shot again. Playlist management is terrible, it makes it difficult to categorize music effectively, allows little control over organizing your music collection, its not smart about cloud syncing, can't sync local music to other devices on the same network, etc. Really wanted to like this app. If you have a mix of local and cloud music and want more control over your library, Microsoft hasn't figured that out yet.
Also, terrible design that makes it possible to accidentally doubleclick on something in your playlist and have it instantly removed. Tired of having to re-add stuff I accidentally remove.
Ok, guys, updating this for the last time and cancelling my Xbox Music account. The worst part about making the switch is I found myself listening to less music and discovering less new music than I had before. Unfortunate.
30 September 2014
you know, the signing in and out process does not work reliably. I can't sign out when I want to, I can't sign in, even after I accept the new terms. I can't try another account or even try to retype the password.
come on, looks like some jr high kid wrote these.
well, after a year, the last update finally cataloged all of my music on my file server.
thank you.
what a piece of junk. can't even play music from my server. all you want to do is get people to subscribe and could care less if we can play existing music we've already purchased.
useless
2 June 2014
The app refuses to stream music since the latest update. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the issue didn't disappear.
30 May 2014
Music is my passion, I have a music of songs at least 192kbps,some FLACS but mostly 320kbps tracks all info up to date including replaygain values. The app doesn't take advantage of a tidy library and doesn't display values like "composers", "comment" and "publisher" or "BPM".
The UI needs lot of work because there is a lot of wasted spaces specially on the "track field".
It needs a redesign if they want to take over iTunes market
CONS:
-No Gapless playback
-No Replaygain
-No ability to play a specific genre of your collection
-No FLAC support or other formats audiophiles love.
-You need to enable "download metadata from the internet" for the artist background to work properly, but doing so will give you erroneous album art on some albums, or incomplete albums even if you have the songs in your library.
PROS:
-Bit perfect playback (sounds great)
-Semi-regular update cycles
-Artist backgrounds in the "now playing screen" are nice (when it works)
-Fast detection of recently added music
16 June 2013
While the free streaming is nice, the interface and experience is dreadful. Many of the albums I've purchased from iTunes or ripped from CDs show up twice - one marked "streaming only." Also, many of my albums are split up, with some of the songs appearing under a different album from the same artist, rather than in the correct single album. Finally, there is no gapless playback; my gapless albums are painful to listen to with pauses between each song.
