seriously, can I get my money back?

Says I have used 4 gig out of 64 gig sad, in reality I only have 4 gig left to use.

I am satisfied with WinDirStat, but I wanted to try something with Metro UI. This is 100x slower than WinDirStat and the UI is like an Atari pinball game.

Major bug: disk space free reported as used on splash screen! Very nice representation of used space. One of the best disk usage analyzes I have over used. The graphics are nice and not in anyway excessive. I would like more info when I click on sub-folders.

pretty is all I see

I give one start because it fails on all goals except a good interface. You can dress it up any way but still doesn't do a full scan, either crashes about mid 20% on a full hard drive or reports things incorretly

DON'T BUY!!!! Don't waste your money. I am going to report this to Microsoft as a scanner scam. It has a alluring UI. However, it can't complete a scan of C:\ on a 16Gb Surface RT. Gets to 27% and then restarts. Let run for 15 minutes with no completion, I'm out $3.99, since there wasn't a try. TOTAL FAIL!!!!! I will be tweeting my experience too!

Not what I expected. Might work better on non Rt machines. UPDATE Upgrading my rating-working much better for me now. Great on win 8 pro too!

Wish I could get a refund. The interface/graphics are amazing, but it takes way too long to scan. On the order of 10 minutes + for a drive with only 7gb of files on it. Other scanning tools can easily do this in 30 seconds or less. If they could update it so that it is fast (probably needs multi-threaded scanning queue), I would be happy. 2012_10_29.

This is very cool, it is so cool to see the comparison of disk sizes, ect.

It looks promising, but I don't get anything beyond the developer's splash screen. Also, if it's true that it doesn't scan Windows or Program Files directories, then that means that Steam games won't show up on the list, either...which can get messy. Another reviewer stated that this is a "not-Metro" limitation so I don't know what the fix is, but I know that that's where the lion's share of my used hard disk space is being taken.

I love how this app looks. I found it fast. Not sure why it is slow for few guys who commented earlier. However I do have problems with the scrollbars on the "Details" and "Volumes" boxes. They get stuck when you move you mouse pointer away.

Never mind that it's woefully slow - this app can't even scan your system disk properly. It won't see your C:\Windows folder, nor your C:\Program Files folder, nor any Hidden and System files - those are going to take up most of the space on your local disk. This is a limitation of the Windows 8 Metro app platform, not specific to this app, but it should be prominently advertised. You'd feel cheated otherwise.

Sorry to also downrate this, but, while you can tell the Developer really did put in an extreme amount of work, it still needs a TON of Metro (or Modern UI for the Nazis) reference design/function language and usage, speed/functionality improvements; practically a re-write of the app. Would buy if you could turn this around 200% and add in Defragment/hard drive tools.

The Good Nice interface. I like the different views of the data and the breakdown of file types. Being able to drill down into the folders by clicking on the graph is nice as well. Could potentially be a good view of individual folders or maybe the entire drive on smaller SSD's of Windows RT computers. The Bad I have 120 GB SSD and it was unacceptably slow. Also, if you drill down into the folder while scanning the drive, it loses all progress on the scan. Perf improvements will make this 5stars

Could you please let me know the procedure you access disk info

It took quite long to analyze the c: drive but, overall, a cool concept vs other programs like WinDirStat. Speed up the disk scan and get more stars...

I agree with other reviewers. I think the initial reviews were fakes. This app is really slow. You would want to scan an entire hard drive with it. But, that would probably take a day or more.

This is the best implementation of this tool that I've seen. Granted, it's "overdone" but I do believe that is the point. I find it entertaining and am sure to use it down the road.

avatar

19 September 2012

The program refused to begin scanning, and on my fourth attempt, the program crashed. BTW, I strongly suspect that most of the positive reviewers are faked. The reviews on and about the first day the program was available are all very positive, whereas on the following days (when real users had a chance to try it) the reviews are mainly single stars.

Immediately crashes on launch.

I have used other disk space scanning software, and it is often a very slow process. But this app takes the prize for being the slowest. After an HOUR it reported that it had scanned about 10% of my 250GB disk. Nevertheless, I left it running, and checked again two hours later. It had forgotten what it was doing somehow and I was back to the "Welcome" that I got when I first run the app. So I am uninstalling it.

This is pretty cool! This looks and works like some a screen on some science fiction movie - pretty cool! It would be great to see a suite of tools that are written this way - like a system monitor that shows CPU/memory/disk usage in real time...?

avatar

17 September 2012

I was wondering how slow it was since I just bought a brand new laptop with a SSD. It is very slow even though I hardly have anything installed on my machine.

avatar

16 September 2012

Looks cool, sounds cool, cool concept and great execution except for one rather glaring problem - scans are insanely slow. I have a Samsung Slate - Core i5 CPU, 4 gigs of RAM, and a 64 gig SSD, so there's really no excuse for such slow performance. I can see why they're giving this one away. Worth grabbing on the off chance a future update makes it actually work.

avatar

16 September 2012

Seems rather useless other than viewing categorical charts of your data.

avatar

16 September 2012

Slick graphics, but this thing is insanely slow. I normally use the freeware WinDirStat (found by Googling; not in the store yet) to scan, and in the time it took WinDirStat to scan my entire C: drive, this thing had scanned 7%.

16 September 2012

On a SATA3 SSD after 5 minutes trying to catalogue about 20GB of data in my home folder I gave up. Grand Perspective for Mac OS X could catalog a 500GB SATA1 HDD in less than a minute. JUNK

avatar

15 September 2012

Performing most any action makes the app force close, maybe take advantage of some of the built in async tools to fix this performance. It does look & sound neat but it doesn't work

This is one awesome app. It let's you quickly scan a folder to find the largest files hidden deep within the folder. AWESOME!
