Can only access the libraries on my hard drive but not the drive itself. WTF!

It's very fast and easy to use, but sometimes I get lost of where the app is. It would be nice if it always started at one location or have favorites. Each time I have to navigate to MY PC and then find the folder I need.

useful addition for Surface 2

There have been many rumors going around that Microsoft will be making a modern file manager. This file manager is exactly what I envision would be the file manager in Windows 8.2 or Threshold. But two things that I would love to see implemented is: 1. Viewing files is out of the scope of this app, therefore have pictures, videos and documents open in their respective app. Take pictures for example. This app can view pictures but I would like to have pictures open in the modern app. 2. Don't have every folder that I browse to automatically be added to the favorites list. I'll edit the favorites list manually if I want to add/delete it. Thanks for making a great file manager.

Can't open high resolution images

I am still working on that .thank you.

Worked great for copying and moving files around with touch. I love the latest feature where you can browse through pictures.
21 February 2013
first it tells me I can manage my dropbox now it doesnt
6 January 2013
love that ish
11 December 2012
It does fine when the directory doesn't have a lot of files but when it has more it is very slow.

I love this app. It almost makes me enjoy organizing my pictures. The multi rename function is great. The only problem I have run into is that on a surface the app won't load files in a single folder if it contains over a couple hundred files, it starts to load them and then just gives up. For photo management this is a real issue.

This is exactly what is sounds like! Try it for yourself. In the future, it might be worth it to add a side details pane by default so I can see the details of what I've selected. If This app works to become a desktop File Browser equal (in features) then I would recommend it to everyone who gets Windows 8.

I am not a newbie to computers and I could not find my way through this application. I used the browse option and then it would not open any of the files in the folders I looked through. There is an option to choose a folder whereupon it appears in the bottom. At that point I have no idea what to do with it. Is there a help menu? I am guessing that all of the glowing reviews before this were made by friends of the developer.

Well done.
Create folders, move and copy files.
What else do you need :-)
5 November 2012
The thing I like best about this app is how native it looks. My only qualm is that if I'm trying to move a file, I shouldn't have to go through the browse option if the destination folder is in view. There should also be an option to go up one level.
3 November 2012
Love the share feature and the details view.

It's actually even a little nicer than the native Windows 8 file browser (which does exist, but can only be accessed through other apps, like Mail, Reader, etc.). It's crashed (blank blue screen, unresponsive) a few times when trying to open specific folders; I'm not sure if that is a random glitch, or if it just doesn't like certain file types. And it really needs sort options!
Other than that, it's quite nice. I like the icon/tile view.

BTW, for the people wondering why only your music/video/pictures libraries are available by default, that's actually required by the app sandboxing on Windows 8. Those libraries are the only places apps are allowed to get full access to "out of the box", any other folders can only be "given" to it by the user through the system file picker (which is what comes up when you "browse"). So it's not really something the author of this app could change.

When copying a folder to the same folder, "Mystuff(2)" was created and the original Recycled. But the contents of the new folder only included subfolders, and none of the files in those folders were copied. Luckily I was able to retrieve my deleted files from the Recycle Bin. It seems a shame that such a simple tool is not ready for use even though it's not free.

It is working with unc paths for me.
14 October 2012
Now there's no need for me to access the desktop file explorer to manage things
13 October 2012
There is no ability to access network shares or devices that are accessed via UNC path.

Microsoft should've included an app like this by default. I really like it. Nice functionality and UI thus far. Only have a few gripes, one being when I open my Documents library, it merges all the items in every folder in it into one interface, inside of separating them by the folders from the library. Otherwise, very nice app. After some future updates, I would definitely consider purchasing it.

Pretty good. This is something Microsoft should have built in to the OS, though. My only complaint is that the tile color seems out of place. I'd like to pretend this is a built in app (and it should be), so I think the tile should have a teal, dark purple, light purple, orange, light blue, dark blue, red or green background (like the built in ones). Still, very nice. Like another reviewer, I'd like to start in my Home folder (C:\Users\%username%)
24 September 2012
Seems to focus very heavily on media files. Accessing documents or anything else requires multiple steps. 4 stars if it started in the user's home folder as opposed to just giving the option for "Music, Pictures, Videos"
20 September 2012
this is a awsm app.one of its kind .add more features and this will be a hit.i have only one complain that is inability to remove folder from folder list
17 September 2012
this is really good and should have been included with windows, few suggestions though, when choosing the brows option the files drop list im unable to select files and folders the how you can in the pictures, music ect options in the files drop down list(just realize I wasn't using the app properly lol works fine :P) also adding open with and open as admin to the right click bar could be handy and optional details pane as someone mentioned otherwise this is amazing.
