what ever they did in the last 6 months has messed it up cant get it to load right then when it does its very sluggish and laggy

It is easily between iBooks and Freda as the two best book readers out there. I knock iBooks due to its inability to natively interface with anything other than the iBooks store (yeah, you can side load books, but it is a PITA). Freda, well , it is only available on Windows. Were it available on iOS, there would be no question as to which book reader I would be using all of the time.
22 February 2015
For the record this is the only reader in the store that does what it says its suppose to do. And it works albeit with some extremely confusing, yet functional options.
Highlight works, but if you resize text or change anything your highlights will be on the wrong words later, even blank areas or gone all together. The color pallet that pops up defaults to white and the selector down arrow is too small to actually hit. So more often then not you have whit highlights. And if you are in day mode that does not work. White should not even be in the list.
Page turning is twitchy but if you disable "taps" it works. A page turning animation like Apple, would be a grand enchantment so you can see what direction you went when you are hard of sight like a lot of eBook users.
No way to get back to where you were when you follow an embedded link. This is something that plagues almost every single reader I have ever seen. Why not a simple back button like every web browser has had for 25years?
1 February 2015
I think Freda means boring when it reads it doesn't do the expression that the person is doing.
23 January 2015
Once it is set up properly the App works very well. Very responsive. Would be five stars if you could add notes.
30 December 2014
great app. easy to use. thanks!
11 December 2014
Better than the others, but no comparison to what's available on Android. Make page turning life-like and spend some time on feature explanation and you might have a very nice reader here.
25 November 2014
This new version stinks
26 August 2014
Compared to some of the reading apps being offered in the Windows Store this is pretty good. Then when you compare it to the top apps for Android and iOS it falls waaaay short. Design, functionality, sharpness, none of it is really up to the level of either Mantano, Moon or iBooks. Of course, the fact that after the latest update it crashes every time I try to access settings might have colored my view somewhat...
17 August 2014
This is what windows tablet has to offer to replace iBooks? This app is terrible in comparison. Flaky controls, most of the time I have to manually turn pages to different sections of the book because tapping on a chapter in contents rarely work. Just all around inferior in every single way.
28 July 2014
little bit slow....
2 July 2014
Takes for ever to open up ... takes forever to turn a page ... ask you evry time if you want this link after tapping it ... very annoying and very disappointed I removed this app and re-installed same issues I give up
28 June 2014
Freda is slow but it is the only one that works and the is HORRIBLE!!!!
Fix this then five stars

Easily the best epub reader for Windows 8 (including all the pay apps), and if the developer could implement just a few little improvements, this'd be the ultimate reader app. I'd suggest:
*Option to prevent the screen from sleeping
*Ability to monitor a folder for your library, instead of manually adding individual files
The first one is far more important, because typically mobile devices have a quick timeout for putting the screen to sleep (I've got my Surface Pro 2 set to one minute), and usually one would want a different timeout when using a reading app. It's frustrating to have the screen suddenly switch off when you're in the middle of a page, and it's cumbersome to have to manually disable sleep functions before using Freda.
The second one would be a minor convenience, but helpful for people who maintain large libraries and are frequently adding/changing books.
Anyway, great work so far!

This app is good I use it on both Windows Phone and Windows 8 and this is where the problem comes about how about a way to sync between readers. Here is an example of why if I am home and reading on my 24 inch portrait monitor book is 207 pgs. on my 8 inch Windows tablet it is 370 pgs. and on Windows Phone it is over 1400 pages so if I make any significant progress in the book on my PC and then end up in a waiting room somewhere where I only have my phone I would have to literally skip ahead hundreds of pages in order to find my place. If there is some way you could implement this that would be great I know Kindle does it by making you register your app to your amazon password I also understand that Amazon has unlimited resources so I suppose you would need a ton of cloud storage in order to implement this for your app which probably isn't financially feasible since If I recall this app is free. Well if you can do it that would be great but if not I understand completely.
20 April 2014
This app is great, one of the few that lets you underline. Although I'd love it if the underlining process could be easier or a bit different. Anyway, great work on the recent changes and the zoom on images. 😃
6 April 2014
The design is terrible. The reading experience is very un-book like. It looks like an electronic text reader instead of an electronic book reader.
5 April 2014
I purchased and use this app on my windows phone. Hopefully the Windows 8.1 app in this store will get image zoom like the phone version. When that feature is added, I'll purchase it from this store also.
UPDATE: Thanks for adding image zoom. Now 5 stars.
I think I have tried all of the readers in the store, and this one still is the best for me.
24 March 2014
Needs more navigation options and it will be much better. Please add some cool transitions too.
22 March 2014
A good no nonsense eBook reader.
5 March 2014
I was bitter with first switching to windows that Moon+ reader was not available, but with some tweaking of the settings Freda has proven to be a decent replacement.
28 February 2014
That was very bad could not do anything that it said IT started messing up
22 February 2014
This app has amazing potential and is perfect for people who have the time and energy to learn how to use it. Unfortunately I do not. The format and design is not user friendly making it far to frustrating to use. For this reason I uninstalled the app very quickly.
21 February 2014
It has some bugs. For example Project Gutenberg Catalog doesn't show any home page. Will advise to use Bookviser.
19 February 2014
The highlighting feature isn't useful. It crashes in the selection of color of highlight.
8 February 2014
I need higher values for the margins and line spacing. The maximum allowed is low to me. Otherwise, it's perfect! Please add these 2 things and I'll find you a very beautiful woman to marry you ;)
3 February 2014
You can't go back to a previous page. You can't choose what to highlight. Don't waste your space. I'd like to choose no stars
2 February 2014
Good app, opens EPUB files without problems ad maintains formatting/pagination. It may have too many customization options (I don't see a need t have all RGB spectrum as color choices, for example).
25 January 2014
Highlight should allow underlining and not fade the text and I HATE trying to highlight. If you can't hit that tiny icon just right it won't work and you have to undo it and try again and again and again
15 January 2014
I love LOVE being able to read in night mode with green text, very Retro! (and easy on the eyes)
