iBird Lite Guide to Birds

▶ IBIRD LITE HAS EVERY FEATURE OF THE PRO VERSION In the movie The Big Year, three men battle to see who can spot the most number of birds in one year. Brad Harris, played by Jack Black, identifies over 700 species. What few people know is that Black, knowing nothing about our flying friends when he started, turned to iBird and became an expert at identification in just a few weeks. Phil Donahue says iBird is his "go to guide" and that he no longer uses a book. If you have Windows 8 you can use iBird to join the 48 million birders in North America enjoying this fascinating hobby. Whether you are a bird lover or a fledgling, iBird LITE Guide to Birds of North America is the first free Windows 8 app you should install. Why? Because once you see how easy iBird LITE makes identification, the gorgeous hand painted illustrations, the beautiful photography and the incredible depth of information, we promise you will develop a new appreciation of these dazzling creatures. And you feel ready to move on to its full featured paid app. With a patented visual search engine called SAVE (1), the iBird LITE Guide to Birds of North America app will have you identifying birds with just a few taps. Then use one of iBird's hundreds of audio recordings from the famous Cornell Lab of Ornithology to invite the bird right to you or your bird feeder. iBird lets you say goodbye to large, heavy and easy-to-forget printed paper based field guides with postage stamp sized photos and illogical organization. The app replaces them with a multimedia marvel that will teach you how bird like an expert, and provide you with literally hundreds of illustrations, photos, range maps, song recordings and much more. Here are just a few of the things that make iBird LITE the perfect starter app for birders. ▶ FREE GATEWAY TO THE FIELD OF BIRDING, the second most popular hobby after gardening. ▶ IBIRD IS THE WORLD’S MOST ACCLAIMED BIRDING APP and now comes to Windows 8 with features that go far beyond any field guide on the planet. ▶ THE LITE SAMPLER INCLUDES 50 SPECIES OF NORTH AMERICA INCLUDING CANADA, NORTHERN MEXICO AND BAJA CALIFORNIA ▶ IBIRD LITE CONTAINS DOZENS OF GORGEOUS HAND DRAWN ILLUSTRATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL PHOTOS – for every species. As an example iBird correctly splits of the Winter Wren into the Winter and Pacific types. ▶ FIRST NAME, LAST NAME OR TAXONOMIC SORT – Sort species in taxonomic (evolutionary) as well as alphabetic order. Whether you're a novice who is looking to become an expert or an expert wishing to know more details that anyone could keep track of, iBird is for you. iBird's elegant interface, which can be mastered in minutes, opens you to the world of birding in a super visual way. With iBird you will be able to type a few letter of any species name and see it appear instantly on the Browse screen. Don't know the name? Just enter your location, the bird's most prominent color and possibly a few other details and watch iBird's "parametric" decision engine find the exact bird you are looking for. It's patented algorithm makes finding a bird a simple step-by-step process where nothing can go wrong. It makes sure that the result you get is the only possible bird with those characteristics. But iBird is a lot more than a search engine. Its a treasure trove of high quality information about birds of the North American continent: there are literally thousands of photos of birds in every kind of situation imaginable--flying, perching, diving, nesting, etc. There are over 1,300 hand drawn high-resolution digital illustrations painted by extremely talented artists. This does mean that the application is large, so please be patient when downloading from the Windows app store. (1) SAVE stands for Smart Attribute and Value Elimination and is a patented "parametric" search technique from Mitch Waite Group that practically guarantees you will find the bird you are trying to identify. iBird and its method of use are covered by one or more of the following patent(s): US patent number 7,363,309 and foreign equivalents.
