Comments for Network Speed Test

It would be handy if the history section was to include time the test was run...for example if you are interested in comparing performance with a cable co internet provider at different times of day when shared bandwidth may be more or less likely.

Great new app with a beautiful UI and accurate numbers. Check out the highly rated WP8 version as well.

It's pretty but I'm not sure how reliable it is. With speedtest.net I get right around the rated down/up speed for my connection but with this tool I'm getting woefully slow up speeds. I suspect it will take some time for MS to work out any issues that may be going on with the server(s) used to do the tests.

Right now my download bandwidth won't go past 3.0 to 5 Mbps(Network delay of 125ms). Upload is at 2.1 Mbps(accurate), however if I use the known Speedtest dot net site, I'm at 20 Mbps steady stream(33ms ping)... I could grab a file right now&max the transfer out at 21 Mbps. thoughts? I'm located in Canada, perhaps its the servers it chooses for me I would not rely on this app, unless they figure that out. Will update review when they do.

For some reason the first test of the day is much less than what the network speed really is. I have compared this test with many other speed test sites. I have 30MPS internet, which this test reports after the initial test of the day, but the initial test only shows 10MPs.

When using Speedtest.com or speakeasy.com (on any machine I own), I get on average, around 24 Mbs down and 5 mbs up. This tool consistently shows my down speeds at 5 Mbs and up at 6 Mps. that's right... my upload speeds are faster than downloads, according to this tool!!

** Updated** For those that use Hyper-V to host virtual machines, an issue I've found is that it will go through the virtual switch, rather then the physical switch, hence the artificially low numbers. When I deleted the virtual switch, the number it presented were closer to real world. I guess this is a bug. Hope this helps resolve some grief other may be experiencing with the app.

I am able to refresh my modem and use this speed test to take advantage of the better connection with my ISP. This is a easy to use speed test and it's always ready to use.

Simple, clean Metro design...and it works! All I need now is an export option to email results or download into an Excel file. At the very least, have the results display in an HTML window (or something like that) so that we can select and copy the results if not export them.

Simple to use and very useful!!!

This app correctly gave my download speed high 40's Mbps but did not accurately report my upload speed. According to two other testing sites, Speedtest.net and Verizon, my upload speed is in the mid 30's Mbps. This app could only report 0.7Mbps at best. Also it reported a lag of about 170ms whereas Speedtest.net reports 13 or so ms.

Just use speedtest.net and you'll see how wrong this app is

I have used the Windows 8 Store and Windows Phone 8 version of this app, and they are neither accurate nor precise.

Excellent app, clean, fast and does what you need it to do

Either this is really really wrong or SpeedTest.net is. It shows my bandwidth as about 1/3 of what every other speed test does. There is absolutely no reason for this when better tools are available on webpages.

Cool little app does what some websites do. Knowing your network delay may help inform your gaming activities.

Every time I click Start I get a message that the service isn't available.

Good app

... it does what it says, well. If I could export or print or email a report of the results history (with graphics...) and specific tests, I'll be set to fight my isp: definitely not getting the speed I was offered. Also, please log the time of the test.

Provided results that were consistent

The app is nice but the speed test are horribly inaccurate, seems unable to obtain speeds higher than 5-15 mbps regardless of the connection speed.

I like the simple design. It is convenient to use. Not sure about accuracy though. While speedtest.net values were 24 mbps down, 22 mbps up and 26 ms ping, this app values are 8 mbps down, 4 mbps up and 180 ms ping. First test always give lower values for download and upload speeds. Second test, just after the first test, gives values closure to Speedtest.net values.

Can choose where it connects to. Also, results are not accurate. It seems to cap at around 3MB for me.

This app is really good. There are no ads which makes it even more awesome. This has lot of functionality. Must have.

You can only test 2 things, download speed and upload speed. It does these things quite well!
