Comments for Norton Studio

At first, I was having the same issue as several other reviewers, it wasn't recognizing my Norton subscription. Turns out you MUST have "Remote Management" activated in the settings of your Norton product. Unfortunately, Norton doesn't make this clear unless you browse through their "About Studio" page on their website. I think this is something that should be mentioned when purchasing or launching for the first time. Tabs displaying info in app would be nice instead of several new browser tabs.

I have 360 installed on my desktop and I also installed the app. I noticed that the app does not update when the software viruses were updated or the computer was last scanned. It just says "not available" for those fields. That means I have to go back to my desktop application to double check.

This antivirus product works well on my W-7 laptop but has been nothing but a pain on my W-8.1. First unable to run a scan because of freezing and then after getting a "fix" scan is often aborted with a repetitive error code. Must run a live update, shut down and then run a scan. Four trips to techs and a few to Norton Community and issue remains. Have lost confidence in this product.

After my trial subscription ran out, I upgraded from Internet Security to 360. This program thinks Internet Security still installed and has expired. After spending over an hour with tech support it is still broken. I just don't use because of that.

On my new Toshiba gaming Win 8 Pro machine, Norton Studio pops up. It wants me to give the email address for my account. I have no idea what (is this some type of "bait & switch-ware", or "OEM ransom-ware"??) this is, does or why I want or need it. WORSE YET: there is no indication whatsoever that there will be a charge for this or not. I am hesitant to enter my email (for fear of another 100 unwanted emails daily flooding my inbox which I never asked for) address. Is this simple "bloat ware" that I should delete? What can this do to help me? What will it cost? What is the down side? (WITHOUT A 100 PAGE LAWYER WRITTEN CONTRACT/EXPLANATION) - how much of my privacy do I surrender by using this software / service? People are becoming very leery, very hesitant, even scared - of all the games being played with our data, our privacy. We are the customers. Wake up.

After updating, I was able to find a simple way for it to detect my actual Norton product. It now says my computer is protected. Well done.

I have used Norton for years now and only twice had a problem did a live chat and phone call. We worked out the problems and everything is fine. I see on many on the reviews people talking about all the pop ups and up selling by Norton's I have never received that. I only use Norton and I will continue. I have heard that some times if you have 2 anti virus programs on your computer the conflict with each other maybe that is what is happening for some.

Half the programs I use were crashing and simple things were taking forever even though they were allowed. Tried to get Microsoft Security Essentials and site said they amped up Defender for Windows 8 which comes pre-installed. I uninstalled Norton and turned on Defender, now my laptop runs smoothly.

I thought this would allow me easy access to Norton 360... instead all it does is shows me if there are errors BUT won't let me act on them. For example: it warns me that my last scan was a week ago and yet there is no button to activate a scan! All links just point to their site to buy more Norton products! I have to switch to desktop and run the 360 from system tray for any real action. Even then it is so buggy it won't scan... just terrible and pointless app.

Five hundred words are not enough to enumerate the problems I've had with this app. Once installed on my HP computer. I can not uninstall it without disabling some of my basic computer programs. It continually hinders me from running aps, programs, videos, etc. Even YouTube videos have been affected....

Please purge my computer of this virus

Can't be deleted. Can't be quarantined. Doesn't exist as an application to remove. Updates without permission. Invasive, conflict-causing takeover-wear. This is the company Snowden warned you about.

If this app was a horse, we would be taking a trip to the nearest glue factory.

4 May 2013

Absolutely stay away from this. It crashed my computer just because I didn't want to pay after the free trial version was over...!

I just want it gone. My god it is worse than a virus why can't I just delete it. Go away already. You are not wanted you are not needed, leave my computer.

Norton takes over your computer and drags it down, using a ridiculous amount of resources and slowing everything down. I work for an IT company, and the first thing we do with computers we buy for companies is remove the preinstalled crapware, including Norton.

Please, its' difficult enough. Don't give me add-on possibilities from ANY origin than NORTON. I don't want my PC security enhanced by outsiders! Stop including "up sales" that confuse end users as to what application/program in needed or running. Unwanted pop-ups are attached to maintain the health of my computer. I'm disappointed as a consumer. If you keep these, make it known I will encounter these additions & make a clearer path to them. I expect Norton to work to MY genuine best interest !

you should get Microsoft essentials. it Is way better. it is free and better than Norton

avatar

27 December 2012

impossible to uninstall but I've been warned not to use it because it causes problems. Norton is horrible and I wish there was a zero star rating possible. This is basically just an ad because I refuse to start the trial but I can't uninstall it. Incredibly frustrating.

I have found this product to be everything it professes. The online help is attentive and professional. So kudos to Norton Studio. However if this is suppose to be a free app and my application for such says I already own it. Why are you notifying me that I have only eight days left of service to this free product, unless I pay you the specified amount?

avatar

21 April 2013

I installed 3 days ago on a new computer that I purchased, and already it don't work, respond?? I'm going back to AVG.

avatar

8 February 2013

Red warning even if the icon on the desktop show OK, and the subscription still have 256 days left. Sorry - but this software is a piece of s...!

26 December 2012

Partially installs, can't uninstall, can't update, not good! Norton bit a green wiener on this.

avatar

12 September 2012

I can see the status of all my machines with Norton installed from this App alone. The Cyber Crime Index page is especially useful to see what are the current threats. Looking forward to more Norton apps in the Windows Store!
