I'm having the same issue.
"There was a problem retrieving 5 of the news feed"... and it doesn't display anything.
Live Tile is working though.

Somehow latest version broke the comment....when you scroll down to comments page it is always blank.....tested on surface pro and dell laptop.

I love the windows phone app as well as the wpcentral.com web site but, this app feels much different than the phone app as well as the website. I knew this app would be different from the wp app in layout, but I thought the app would feel and look more like the website. The website as well as the wp app scrolls vertically, so why not this app ??? I look forward to the updates.... Needs a layout/user interface makeover. I've pinned the website which is much better so why use this app. If you want the stories when there fresh pin the website.

All the articles for me show up with the source code for the page displayed at the end of the article. Weird.

Always good content from the group at Windows Central.
App can be slow to load and refresh more than occasionally.
Get the spinning blue dots in the middle of the screen, and Network Error messages on occasion. I have a very fast, business class internet connection in my home office, so I know that isn't the issue, as all other internet activity is very fast.
Pages don't load the comments sections too often also.
Sometimes the app runs great, others...not so much, hence the 3 stars
Running Windows 8.1 fully updated, on a CAD/Engineering design class machine.

Outstanding app!!! Would expect no less from the WP Central team. Well designed, easy to use and intuitive. Also great implementation of the live tile. Would love to see more functionality like ability to click on images and view videos in app. Then it would get 5 out of 5. Keep it up guys!

it's basically the WPCentral RSS feed, which I added to the most excellent Bing News app, making this app obsolete for those that do not participate in the comments.

it cannot keep track of where you have been when backing out of an article to the article list or for that matter the main page. always returned to the beginning. articles have a bunch of gibberish code at the end that makes you scroll and scroll to get to the next article.either way just bunch of needless swiping. swiping to next article doesn't work properly either. the article is half hidden, forcing you to swipe backwards to get to the beginning of it.

While I like the content of the website, and the display in the application it still lacks basic functionality.
It's annoying that all the links to other WC articles take me to the browser, can't just tap on an image to view it full screen and the first, featured article is huge - not that I mind that - but most of the time the image quality is poor and the article is of no importance.

This app one of my favorites on Windows Phone (its’ so good it should be in the ROM). After discovering that it was a universal app I installed it on my Windows tablets. The content is exactly what you'd expect but the usability and layout are poor. Clicking on an article in the horizontal layout opens in full view. Unfortunately, clicking on the left arrow back icon takes you the leftmost article--in other words to the start where the first article is. This is horrible if you read more than a couple of the newest articles since you have to then scroll to the right to get back to the vicinity where you just were. The app on WP is much better as it never loses your location and in doing so encourages you to look at lots of articles. I won't read but 1 or 2 articles before stopping with this app. I'm going to keep using WP as my daily WPCentral driver. The news overview tiles are laid out side-by-side horizontally and vertically take up 1/3 of the screen. Oh, & Search doesn't work.

Downloaded the App last week. I've enjoyed the sight on my Windows phone for a few years. Just downloaded the Windows 8 App and have to say it is stunning. Very nice job and very well done.

This app is pretty darn nice for a version 1. Once I can access the forums from the APP - this will be 5 stars all the way! If you follow Windows Phone or the Microsoft eco system at all, then this app is a must.

I've been using this app for quite some time and after a lengthy lack of updates, things have gotten seemingly bad. Now every article is ended with a splatter of code across each page. Not to mention the inconsistent refresh issues that plague this app, generating "Network not found" errors and the bugs that don't allow you to post comments, even though it used to a few weeks ago? Needs lots of help to be usable at this point.

In order to run videos I have to open in Browser. This app isn't Surface Pro 3 friendly.

Layout is bad, comments stays in blank to often have to refresh or toggle between news and comments a few times, at least once a week I have to login.

I'm torn. The app is lacking in a couple key areas. Live tile is not at all representative of what you'll get inside the app. Often, the top story on the live tile is buried deep inside the myriad other stories. On the phone all stories are in chronological order. It's hard to find stories by guessing if it's gonna be in News, Games, Apps or Help. Many apps are more than one.
There is no option to set it up the way I'd like. Live tile doesn't show number of new stories like the phone app does.
So do yourself a favor and get this on your phone and basically leave this version alone. I'm stumped as to why there is such a dramatic difference in quality, smh.
But the app is almost indispensable.

The app is decent, but lack of basic features is irritating. For example the search charm in the app does nothing. The only way to find an article on a specific subject is to use the website or my Nokia. The built in search feature - not working. The in app Search Contract MS service - not working.

I love everything about it such as top story and having all the features that WP and Android version does, but when your in the reading view, the back button covers some of the news. Also, please add a search for the content.
