Comments for Evernote Touch

Evernote crashes constantly on my Surface RT. Uninstalling and reinstalling it seemed to fix the issue the issue for a bit, but the instability quickly returned. Even if it does launch it will crash while I'm editing a note and then refuse to restart. I was really hoping to be able to enjoy proper round-tripping of notes between my iPhone, Surface, PCs, and Mac with the rich text update, but if I can't even launch the thing 90% of the time, what's the point?

I've been using Evernote products for a long time - before they became popular and went mobile. This is by far the worst experience yet, very unlike Evernote to release such an unstable product. Syncing won't work and crashes frequently when taking notes. Get this right, Evernote. *** update 11/28/2012*** just installed the update - still crashes and does not finish sync *** update 12/13/2012 *** still no update and no word from Evernote on when they will fix this embarrassment of an app.

This windows 8 app is clearly unfinished and should never have been released - shame on Evernote. Most of the notes that I created using Evernote on my Android phone or on my Windows 7 PC are not editable with this app. My expectation was I would be rating this app 5 stars, I can't give it more than 1.

I like the notes but there is a very frustrating behavior and the developers should fix it as soon as possible. I am on Lenovo Yoga 2 pro and I have a lengthy notes. I scrool all the way down and start adding my new note text. But after adding some text, I think it updates to the server to sync with other devices. after that, it automatically goes to the first page in the notes and this is very frustrating behavior. I have to scroll down to my page after every update and that is after everytime you add a line and take a break. Atleast 2 times a minute.

I live on Search on Evernote. The Windows version is busted in a couple of ways which make this app useless for me. 1) not having a search button directly in the app is busted. I understand this is the Windows UI guidance. I hope Microsoft fixes that. 2) Search doesn't work. It always apparently returns No Results. When I use the Android version, I get type-down results and I find what I am looking for. BUSTED. Can't use

No offline notebook support, note layout is totally corrupted. Its pretty clear very little effort was put into this. I'll be switching over to one note if they can't fix this soon.

Evernote for RT launched early, and they have continued to update regularly. Twitter finally produced an RT client. Nothing from Tumblr or Flipboard. Evernote undeniably has sync and other problems (unlike Evernote on my other devices), which can often be solved by logging off and logging on. It's not perfect, but it's better than being put on hold, possibly forever, by those other companies. One more tip: delete the trash on the web-based EN client. It's not elegant, but it sometimes works.

I just can't believe this is still so broken. Ive continued to try to use this on my windows rt tablet and it is the worst. Ever ore should be mortified that they put this thing out to market. I love evernote and evangelize to the poor, miserable masses who have yet to discover it. So you can imagine my disappointment when I bought my new tablet for the sole purpose of taking over the universe by power using evermote to open a wormhole to an extra-dimensional plane(you get the point), and I couldn't access my notes, couldn't sync my notes and the app crashed my tablet a few times. Tried uninstalling and then reinstalling and then just s-canned it completely. Now I'm just a nobody.

The app crashes anytime that. try to open it without an internet connection. It worked for over a year without that problem, then over the last few weeks it consistently fails when I am away from WiFi. I even came home, opened the app with no problems, closed it, set my tablet to airplane mode, and then watched it fail to reopen. Very disappointed.

Isn't useful till they fix this.

The new UI is fabulous! So intuitive. Finally Evernote has gotten it right on W8.

Evernote is one of my favorite applications across all of my devices, but ths version does not live up to the high standard that they have set for themselves. It does no support rich text editing and in general is missing many features that we have come to expect. With some work this could be a fantastic app but for now it wont be too useful for many.

Please fire the programmer that thinks it's funny to make the cursor jump to the bottom of the document when editing a previously saved note after 10 seconds of being idle. I don't have time to continuously right the cursor every time I go to check a source or look away for a moment. FIX IT. Thank you. Otherwise, it's one of the three most used apps on my Surface pro 2.

I'm a big Evernote fan. Lots of editing done there. This Touch version is worthless. And then downloading the Win. 7 version onto this new Touchscreen w/ high resolution is very hard to read. Evernote hasn't addressed my inquiry w/ them yet-- they must be overloaded w/ similar complaints! Love my Win. 7 version on my other PC!!!!!!

In case you were thinking of trying it out again, it's still a mess. PDF attachment link are choppy and unreadable in many circumstances, especially when you open different notes that contain them, it causes the links to become blurred and unreadable. Such a missed opportunity to advance this platform early.

The initial release of Evernote for windows 8 was so bad. They have fixed a lot of things and made rich text editable which is great. However, while Evernote was messing around with their bad app, I fell in love with OneNote. I rarely use Evernote anymore because the features of OneNote are so much better.

I have been using Evernote for a few years now, but just recently began using the Win 8 version of the app. I am very happy with how it has adapted to this platform. I am also a OneNote user but find myself using Evernote about 95% of the time. The primary reason is the speed at which I can get notes entered, tagged and sync'd knowing that I may be re-organizing at a later date. OneNote has become my "use it when I am explicitly documenting something" tool. Since I spend more time amassing ad-hoc notes on a variety of subjects, it follows that Evernote would be used more often. I read some of the reviews posted listing issues which I have not seen or I know for certain do not exist. These are puzzling to me. Personally, I have called support twice and got answers to my questions. I can only speak to my own direct experience which I can state has been very good and as such I recommend this tool very highly.

**update** Evernote has an online community. However, they NEVER CARE ABOUT Windows 8 users. I suggest you use OneNote if you use windows device very often, even if you have been Evernote Premium user for almost 2 years like me. I have used Evernote for almost two and half years. I always think Evernote is a great company. However, this app is really poor in functionI, and you can see this from the reviews in store. It's hard to believe that this app is from Evernote. There is always a "get more" section in the front even if you are premium user. Actually you can't view note in full screen because the note information alway there. The way it shows notes is much worse than Evernote Android, Evernote iPad, and Evernote Windows desktop. There is no offline notes option... It is not what a Windows 8 style app should be.

This is ridiculous! Cant change my account info?

Currently I have both the Evernnote Touch and the Evernote for desktop. Comparing the two Evernote Touch seemed like the simple version of the desktop version, so I praise them for that. However, the reason why I can not give this a 5 out of 5 is because I have noticed that this app can not sync. It will not sync so I can not reach any of this information through my phone.

16 July 2014

My most recent issue is lack of OFFLINE MODE. I do not have internet access out in the field and I cannot use Evernote app without it. Why???? I am premium user!!

26 April 2014

I like the cross-platform synch on this app, but it needs more of the structure and usability of the PC platform version. I cannot find a search function. Access to all portions of Evernote are limited. The only thing this Evernote package does rather well is to enable taking notes in a meeting. Tags are hard to access. Overall, a weak version of Evernote, especially when compared to the other platforms I use. This needs help; I think it is unfinished and it was rushed out to satisfy a clamoring client-base.

I love Evernote, but this is a disaster. The Win RT version won't stay up long enough to complete the sync. The version on the Surface Pro is more stable. Don't know why. Update: 8/1/13 Still sucks. Stops in a few seconds after starting. Start over on this one.

EN is fine if you've been living under a rock and never heard of OneNote. Seriously lacking in comparison. Seriously, launched with plain text notes? Plain text? Why on earth would anyone use that when OneNote offers a complete, formatted inkable app. If you are complaining that this doesn't work on your Surface RT, just stop. Use OneNote on skydrive and you can use the same notebook in either the minimal Metro app or the full-fledged desktop app, as well as on the web. Far better solution.

July Update: Re-installed new version. At least it doesn't crash *all* the time now. But now it asks for my password and sends a verification text *every* time. Can't add reminders. Can't add check boxes. Seems WP7 version is better than W8 version. My question below still stands. Why no love for Win/WinPhone? ---------------------- I'm a paid subscriber and this is really disappointing. Why so much love for iOS versions and so little for Win/WinPhone? Uninstalling. :(

I was really excited when I saw that the Evernote team had already created a Windows 8 app, but then I realized there was a reason it was developed so quickly. The developers at Evernote are much more capable than what they did with this application. this is in no way a replacement or really a viable option for the use of Evernote. If you were brand new to Evernote and were introduced to the product via the Windows 8 app, you would probably never consider it as being useful.

17 January 2013

I love Evernote, and I've 5-starred all other ports in existence, but this Win8 port has me at my wit's end! I love the clean interface, and it worked fine for a while, but suddenly, changes from other devices don't sync to it, and local changes don't sync to the cloud. But there are no errors, and it acts like nothing's wrong. Infuriating. For evernote support: It seemed to start when I mad changes to a note I created in windows7, and the changes landed in the "conflicting changes" folde

17 December 2012

This is a very poor version compared to the x86, android, or ios version. I hoped to find a product that had full editing features but this is a sad and very lacking product. Please finish it! I'm going back to OneNote...

You can't really do anything. I had hoped to switch to using my Surface in meetings but until this app dramatically improves, forget about it.

Big Evernote fan, but the lack of support for Evernote Business is pathetic. Several months later and app is still bad.
