Useless app never functions

I hate this app

This version of lync has no options to configure and no option to share my screen. It's basically just a telephone and chat. And it's very frustrating not to be able to sort out my settings. Support does not seem available except for FAQs, which refer to clicking on an Options icon that does NOT exist.

If I go to desktop it goes offline. It is not showing that this can be updated to Skype for Business 2015

Terrible. Doesn't work. Didn't allow me to sign in not even once. Why this would even be offered is beyond comprehension. It doesn't work.

doesn't work. the same app works very well on android and ios, is lync a Microsoft product?

Poor Interface - it is very difficult to use this app.

Wish could share screen or integrate better to outlook, but oh well!

So clunky and hard to use. It was much better as an app that could be kept up on desktop.

This one doesn't work as well as the older versions. The older version allowed the user to keep it on the desktop and this one takes over the entire page, and their isn't an option that allows you to toggle between versions.

Can't get out of full screen mode at all...this is just stupid.

avatar

5 August 2015

Buggy trying to get it to sync is not obvious

A responsive, sound experience on 8.1. One annoyance: automatically "correcting" the name of the person in the conversation is not helpful.

I have a Lync for Business account, but I'm unable to use key feature with this "Lync Windows Store app". Microsoft's charts https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn933896.aspxhttps://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn933896.aspx show how this client lacks key features such as desktop sharing, app sharing, and more. Seems Skype for Business client is what is needed to fully utilize the capabilities of my corporate subscription. Not sure if that client is even available for Win 8.1. Quite frustrating.

having this app installed on my personal computer is dangerous, because if it's open and someone sends me a message, there will be no sign of it anywhere outside this app! even though I have save history to outlook turned on, it doesn't. if I see the alert here but try to open the conversation on my work desktop, it's not there, no indication of a missed message and nothing in history. Uninstalling in favor of the Office365 desktop app until this app can be made compatible with the Office365 ecosystem.

This is absolute trash. How do I make this a windowed app that I can use and multitask on other apps? It doesn't record the conversations I use in Outlook and doesn't connect to anything.

avatar

Cannot view shared desktops.

It looks like the ability to add corporate credentials to Lync login are disabled in Windows 8.1, rendering Lync completely useless. Windows 8.1 is probably the biggest atrocity Microsoft has ever inflicted on its formerly loyal customers.

avatar

9 June 2015

If you want to share your desktop you need to run the Lync Desktop, which doesn't integrate well with outlook. The app integrates to outlook well, but doesn't allow you to share.

Nice app but the desktop app is the version that wins the war. Some cool features are supported (like Pen on this metro win8 style app).

Would not allow me to login at all. Rejected credentials every time. Had to login to my meeting using the web app, which worked fine. This app is useless.

After repeated attempts, uninstalling, and reinstalling twice, still cannot get in. Worked with our sysadmin and we can find no known cause.

just updated at work last night and now instead of a small box in the corner of my screen it takes up the entire screen. What genius came up with that idea? I used to use Lync all the time for convenient office communication. With this new update that convenience is gone.

Doesn't scroll chat text all the way down on open. Performance scrolling a long conversation chat down is terrible.

Corporate settings cannot be set. Does not work with Office 2013 on Win RT. Useless app, MS did a bad job.

avatar

22 April 2015

Can you release an update to this app? This needs to be renamed as Skype for Business.

avatar

16 April 2015

Honestly, I don't get notifications when someone messages me. I can't reorganize my list like you can with the windows 7 app. way to metro for switching between conversations. Needs major TLC and rehaul....won't happen since they are moving towards "SKYPE BUSINESS"

avatar

14 April 2015

Cannot get to work with Office 365 unless I turn autodiscover off, but that option does not exist in this client

avatar

7 April 2015

I can't tell when someone is pinging me. I can't tell who it is. I have to dig through each contact before I can figure out who is trying to talk to me. why does it only have 1 window? I have to chat with several people at the same time and me going back and forth into the program doesn't make sense. Again, it's the only for the version used on windows 8.1. If I was on Windows 7, it works the way I need it to work.

The experience is lot worse than the desktop version. Adding contact is a painful experience. No smiley support. Only negative points...
