I expected this player to be more advanced, and have the same controls as your Web Page Player, such as controlling the speed...

Offline download stops downloading when the app is running in background. For download to happen, the app has to be in the foreground and nothing else can be done while the download is going on. Also there is no mechanism to know the status of download. In general every time I switch to some other application (without closing the lynda app) and come back to the lynda app, the lynda app starts over, rather than resume from the previous screen where I left it. This app looks like a beta version, kind of crude.

Content is good but in my windows 8 pc whenever I minimize the app, when I maximize again the app is starting again and downloads are starting again. worst app. Don't make these kind of apps which might give a chance to your user to look for another one in the market

When the app is run in background, the download stops and doesn't resume while coming back to the app. I have already setup this setting in Download Setting for the app to continue downloading in back.

No idea why. Firewall is very simple on this machine (Windows Defender). What's up? Fix or I end my trial membership.

From my Microsoft Surface 3 Pro with Windows 8.1 I tried logging in with my school information and it continues to crash when trying to log in. I've uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail.

The app always crashes when I want to log in through my school/organization. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling. So far I have yet to be able watch a video. Back to the browser for me.

It crashed all the time. Especially going from one video to the next. I like the layout, but I'm going back to the browser to watch videos.

This is a great application--in the sense that the service itself is very useful, but especially in the sense that this app version is a well designed and effective way to access videos from the service. Full access to the videos on Lynda.com requires a membership. Without a membership this is, however well-designed, only a two- or three-star app due to the limited number of tutorials available. No complaints--Lynda's business is providing consistently excellent tutorials by subscription. For Lynda.com members, a few key differences between the website and this app: - This app supports offline viewing. (!) - Some app features are in the settings and menu--don't forget to swipe up and see what's there. - This app does not support accelerated playback, the video transcriptions (and the transcription jump-to-timestamp links). - This app does not provide URLs for each video, so it isn't quite as easy to share videos with other members.

This a great app and it is extremely useful. If you have the money and you want a service that is constantly updating the information you need. this is the place. I would warn there are two features I hope they put into this. 1. The course Transcripts. On their web site, every course has a transcript. As someone who has ADD and needs to take notes, it's a little frustrating when I have to keep rewinding the movies. Sometimes I actually consider going to the web site instead. But this app is just so easy to use. 2. Bookmarks. On the website, I marked videos that I wish to go back to for reference at a later date. I would like to have access to those through the app. It's not a big deal but it's a feature I hope they put in here in a future iteration. Other than that, GEAT APP.

Just a few weeks ago I was wishing that the Windows Store had the official Lynda.com app, and now its finally here. I subscribed to the premium, but had to carry the iPad around in order to view lectures offline, but now I only need to carry the Surface. Looking forward to future updates to the app.

I am very glad to see that we now have an Official app for Windows. However, I am not sure why this was not published as a universal app so it could be used on Windows Phone as well. If it was on Windows Phone, I would have given it five stars.

The app offers great visibility and discoverability, and seamless consumption of the excellent content. A very good touch-driven tablet experience.

The app has a few quirks but I anticipate it will be improved. Glad to have an official app for Windows. Hoping for it to become a universal app so I can use it on my phone also.

I have used Lynda.com for some of my own training. Photoshop and Dreamweaver were to course I learned from. The training goes on 24/7. Lynda has great teachers at hand all the time... Night and Day!!!

Nice collection of options

I like that I can preview many of the courses without having a Lynda.com account. I can also pin any single class to my start screen to easily pick back up where I left off. The videos are very professional and well-produced.

This is a review of the app, not the service behind it which offers the courses. The app is actually surprisingly smooth, and well laid out. It flows well, was very responsive, and audio and video played without a hitch. A suggestion would be make it easier to find FREE courses or segments for people who want to sample such fares.
