Comments for Maps

Lots of reviewers seem to be having trouble changing their location if the app puts it in the wrong place. If you download the update from the Store, you can now tap on your location, click on Move and then move it to where it should be. Disclosure: I work for Microsoft.

I had this app already installed on my tablet and it was a pretty good app, but after a big update, it deleted all my places and directions and I now can't change the names of my places. I am not to happy. 😔

no change log is sloppy developing. Is Microsoft getting sloppy at this point in the game? I would like a change log to know why I am updating, please.

Really needs public transit directions: I live in the city where few have cars, and most just take the subway. Streetside would be nice too.

A lot of the imagery this app uses (while exceptionally clear) is old! Very old. If the imagery was updated this would be a 5 star app for me hands down. Also perhaps add more data layers like Google Earth has.

please add offline maps

Can only go from "A" to "B". Need to be able to add a "C", "D" or may even more.

Local search is pretty limited, at least in my area. Update: Microsoft has fixed the major bug of not loading Map images from the Internet.

- No Streetview / Streetslide ! - No 3D ! - No Offline Maps ! - No turn-by-turn Navigation !

Search window takes too much size, and when closing it the search is reset. When selecting a location, the popup blocks the view of the location you selected

All the controls disappeared on our MAPS application and even the search window disappears if it is clicked to type in location to be searched.

fast clean and accurate, cant ask for much more

CANNOT insert more than your final destination when getting directions. Which makes this app worthless if trying to plan out a road trip with multiple stops.

I like it, but would like to see a live tile feature added so you can view traffic at a glance without having to open the app.

Pinch+zoom is very unresponsive. Using Bing maps on a browser is a better experience.

Seriously, stop shoving this crap down our throats; before chromebooks seem like a reasonable option.

I have always found MAPS and Map Quest to be compatible and MAPS since it is in the start menu a fast way to navigate. Reading all the "comments" especially the 1 star(s), I think people who are impatient , are perfectionists, might have given 1 star, also but what ever happened to the nice word FREE. Also helps to have Windows 8 and finally I have always found Microsoft pays real close attention to the negatives (1and 2 star) and try to address their concerns without adjectives like "it sucks

I was pleasantly surprised at how accurate this app was. It also looks VERY clean and the search results are very accurate so far. Well done Nokia (and Microsoft)!

Well for one it can't find my correct address, it can't identify an address and there is no street level view. All in all week and for the most part useless. I gave it a one only because there was no Zero.

doesn't work

I would like to remind everyone that your Location is based on what is detected on the system, like say if your IP address points to those of Georgia, then the MAP will show you the detected location which is Georgia. Some if not most Internet Service Provider, provides Automatic IP address either thru DHCP server or the likes. You can actually correct your current location by setting it up, it just needs some time and less whining..

The most recent update to this app has brought a bunch of welcome features such as specifying your actual location, dropping pins at arbitrary locations and getting directions between them. Also, the map feels very fast and fluid. Good job Bing team!

Keep up the research and development, I think this could be an incredible maps source.

Very easy to use......

All it needs is some polishing up and good track pad support and from what I saw in the RTM it will have better track pad support. Works almost perfectly with apple magic track pad.

Fast and fluid but I missed Birds Eye and StreetSide.

Updated Review: Well from the last update it brought up to basic Map standards finally with the ability to change map styles, add pins to favorites, and directions. There still places to improve but overall major improvement from the horrible mess of app in the past. The beta app I tried is good steps in bringing street view and 3D buildings but would like a place to store history and save to MS Account.

Bing Maps comes no where near I live. Take this thing and get Google as your data for GPS.
