Comments for Metro Word

Just started classes. The device I bought didn't have MS Word. Had to find a word editing app to write my first paper. Tried out several free and trials. Then I found this one. Used this app to type up my paper and turned it in. After using the trial for a few days, I was sold. Glad I found this app.

I was a little skeptical when I first tried it because the other text editing apps I tried from the windows store were little more than basic text editors. Most of them couldn't even print out a simple page of text. Since this app allowed me to use it with all features activated for 7 days, I used the trial for 7 days. Just as it said, the app became read-only after 7 days. By then, I was impressed enough so I bought it. Just as some others have mentioned, the developer seems to be very active with his upgrades. I've been getting half a dozen updates, each adding more features to the app. Can't wait to see what features will be added in the future.

Okay, I promised to change my stars to 5 when a new update came out- I can finally save again! New update, new logo, new everything. Best money I've ever spent on an app. Recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to pay a TON of money on Microsoft Word... Also: This does everything Microsoft Word does and more- and for a lot less.

I was looking for an app that is visually appealing to work on some writing. Tried this one out and I couldn't be happier. I wasn't particularly looking for a writing app that had formatting options, but once I started using the options, I actually like having all the options.

Just bought a surface pro 3. Came with a trial for MS Office. I don't use it often enough to justify spending over $100 to buy the license. But I needed word to work on some documents. So, I did a search in the store and found some alternatives to MS word. Tried out all the trials available and I found this app to be unrivaled. In fact, I don't think anything else even comes close to it. Some of the other writing apps can't even print or they don't even have auto save. I used MS word on my computer at work to open a document I created using this app and everything seems correct. I haven't found any formatting issue.

I'm an independent short story writer. My husband recently bought me a Surface Pro 3. Before with a laptop, I always used Microsoft Office. With this new tablet, I thought I would try something else more touch oriented. I looked in the store to find a writing app that I could easily use with my new computer. There really aren't that many options for a good writing tool. I really like the following features in this app: (1) The ability to auto save. My work are important. (2) Must have spell checker. Saves me time. (3) Be able to save multiple formats. Some people I send my work to want different formats. (4) Be able to save to a PDF file that are word selectable. This app's exported PDF files are word searchable. (5) Have styles. This may seem nitpicky, but being able to quickly make a line or paragraph a certain style is a time saver. I want to list more but the review only allow so many characters. In short, this is a good writing tool for a touch device.

Recently, a windows system update (March 12, 2015) broke my app. I'm happy to report that the problem has been fixed and there is no more problem. Please update to version 6.1.x.x.

I find this program to be every bit as functional as the more expensive word program and I regret I didn't find Modern Word before I purchased the other program!

This is the only metro writing app I know that actually feels like an actually desktop program when I'm writing and changing the formats of the texts. The auto save and spell checker work great. Love the night mode when I'm working late at night. Don't have anything to complain about.

I purchased this for my mother, who has a much better time using touch interfaces than mouse/keyboard interfaces. The only reason I am not giving this a much higher rating is the lack of spell check capability. I think the interface is pretty nicely done, but the lack of spell check really damages its usability.

This app is pretty good. I have been typing my papers for my classes using this app. It's not as sophisticated as Microsoft Office, but I don't think it was intended to be.

Cheap alternative to office word. Just as functional.

I have the theme set to side tabs and the color to purple. This makes the app beautiful every time I use it. I really like the creative UI options in this app. This app is simple to use. Everything seems intuitive enough. I really like how the app gives us a variety of tools to use and a variety of text formatting options to choose from. This app can be as simple or sophisticated as you want.

First of all, this app gives you 7 days of evaluation time where everything works. To me, this was more than enough time to evaluate the app. I bring this up because it appears that a lot of apps don't even let people try them out first. The app functions exactly how a word processor I suppose to function. It's actually the only text editor in the store I know of that lets the user export the document out to pdf. There appear to be a lo of functionalities that came with this app. I'm particularly impressed with how the app can translate a whole paper from one language to the next. If you decide to translate a long paper, you can literally see the app spit out one paragraph at a time from one language to another. Overall, I'm giving this app 4 stars because I would like to have an equation editor in a touch friendly word processor. I emailed the developer about this and he said he was working on it. I'll change this to 5 star once this feature is out. Peace!

When I started trying to find writing apps, I was surprised to not find that many options in the apps I found. What I really wanted was the ability to export a typed up document to pdf to keep the formatting consistent. After trying out several apps, I found this one. It has everything I needed and more. Good job dev for giving this app plenty of functions to choose from.

I am surprised this app has gotten so many 5 start ratings. At this point it seems a bust. It does not seem to open longer documents -- documents that are actually not very long. All that shows is a blank screen, even though the program indicates that document has been opened. The documents it does open have random symbols replacing letters through out the document, with no clear reason. Not even the same letter is replaced in each case.

Good app to have. It's a little pricey or an app, but I think it is well worth it. This app has more features than the typical mobile apps that are designed for single purpose functions.

18 September 2014

This app has higher quality than the typical mobile apps out there. I've been using this app for a month, and I've seen several updates that changed it completely for the better. Like some others who have reviewed, I emailed the developer about real time spell checker and he said it's coming soon. Can't wait.

$9.99 is actually pretty cheap compared to MS Word costing over $100. This app has everything I need for my daily use.

I particularly like the trial that gave me access to all the features this app has. After trying it out for a few days, I decided to buy it. I already turned in an English paper written with this app. There was one thing that made me hesitate to buy it, though. When I was using the trial, it didn't have real time spell checker like MS word. I emailed the developer and he responded telling me real time spell checker will be included in the next update sometime next week. I'm impressed that he responded to me within an hour. This developer seems to be very responsive. So, after hearing that this app will have real time spell checker, I went ahead and bought the app. I would recommend this app to people.

This app is 1000000 better than anything else I've tried. Exactly what I need for my classes.

whether you want to simply write an essay, heavy editing, or simply reading a word document, this app works well. I've tried out all the other available text editors and none even comes close to this app in quality. The last update gave us color and theme options. It seems like the programmer sends out a major update once a week. What I really like is how responsive the programmer is. I sent him an email asking if he could add a text-to-speech feature and he responded right away telling me he would. Then this feature was added in an update a couple weeks later. If you have a request for a feature, just email him and he'll reply right away. he did with me twice.

Good app. Convenient. Lots of features. It's obvious the developer cares. He's sent out over a dozen updates in the last month, each adding a new feature.

15 August 2014

I regularly check for new apps in this category. Can't say I've seen a word editor that has this many options or work this well in metro. I'm not giving this 5 star like the others because I did notice one weakness. Can't seem to find out a way to resize the tables. I know this is nitpicky, but this little thing prevents this app as giving the full experience of a word processor.

14 April 2015

I decided to buy this app after having tried it out for about 5 days. It does what the app description says. It's more advance than all the other writing apps in the store. The reason I'm giving it a 4 star instead of 5 is it is not as advance as MS Word. Other than that, it works well.

Atrocious app. Gave it an honest chance. Installed it on both my pc and laptop. Here were my issues; Decoded some word documents by inserting Chinese letters (specifically with 's words.) Would not open larger documents, blank screen. Saved files, when attempted to re-open deleted all of my content, which was infuriating with one of my big projects. Lost everything even when autosave was turned on. Processing very slow, prepare to spend an extra 75% of time on every project waiting for the application. Small menu button didn't adapt to typing location, frequently blocking the view of your sentence. Default save setting was in html. Cant change many default settings actually. Menu and editing options not really user friendly. There's a reason this is 1/10 the cost of MS word. Its about 1/10 the product. 5 star ratings are unbelievable

Good for writing essay.

28 January 2015

I have been using this app for more than a month. I really like the UI design. What I'm really impressed with is how fast the developer responded to my request. I asked him to make the inserted image not go off the screen if it is wider or higher than the page. He responded in the same day saying he would send out an update for this right away. And sure enough, The following day there was an update that fixed this issue. Now, when I insert an image bigger than the page, the image resize itself to fit the page.

This app is functional enough for writing essays and taking notes in class. I've written 2 papers with this app. What I really like is I could email the paper to my professor from within this app. With other apps, I had to save to a file, then use the mail app to attach the saved file and email it. This app allows you to so it automatically.

The only thing I would like to see added is a word count.
