The modern app is basically a file explorer for non-PC clients, but with limited functionality. The modern app doesn't allow downloading a whole folder (you can select all files without including subfolders to download). You also can't move files from one folder to another folder with this app. If using the Desktop, I prefer the Skydrive desktop app. Drag and drop for File Explorer.
Can't share items in Modern app.

If the purpose of Skydrive is to keep life in sync, this program completely misses the mark. When you have to download files to the local disk and somehow remember to upload them to Skydrive later, this reminds me of how users used to copy, use, and back up files to the network 10-15 years ago (when they remembered). Might be nice to keep up with the rest of Windows 8 - add the ability to sync. Is this review clear enough?

It keeps opening to the main screen then force closing immediately after. Please fix !

Used to work great. Now every time I click on the app it shows the title screen and then is closes taking me back to the start screen. The app is now worthless. Please fix this!!!

SkyDrive rocks and it's way better than any other cloud app to date.
Major thanks to Microsoft for adding this masterpiece to the ecosystem.

it offers 7gb of free storage not like dropbox 2gb. it offers offline on your desktop. this app is the most relievable cloud storage on any device. must have on your phone, laptop, or tablet. Needs to be able to access files offline

I cannot stand it anymore. This product changes constantly and is anything but reliable and secure. I have never come across a more frustrating; time consuming; expensive; now useless feature. After being a Microsoft Office user for over 10 years, using all their new versions, I am leaving MS for good for simply incompetent support & service; thousands of dollars lost due to their complete lack of response to any and all issues; and then having the audacity to add advertise on my add-free email

Depended on this app on RT. And it has been great. But, for the past week, it has been showing a blank screen. Apparently others are having this issue as well.

Needs local synchronization to be a true cloud app. Nice app for browsing SkyDrive files, but not very functional for actually working with files without local sync.

No offline skydrive fiels! Best feature is left out of skydrivev app. BIG issue on RT, where you can't install desktop version.

Offline support is a required feature, not everyone has connectivity all the time! I will probably be returning my surface Rt due t lack of offline file sync support.

I bought my Surface mainly to bring it with me while traveling as i tend to do much work on the plane. I hope that synchronization for offline editing is implemented as I see this as a most for us newly Windows Surface users. Otherwise we cannot have access to our documents while offline.

All of the reviewers here *should* know how RT works, since afterall you are beta testing and at least somewhat competent, right? RIGHT?
Apparently not.
RT apps have their own "Isolated Store" and can access nothing else. It would be useless to sync 25GB of content into there... Moreover this touch friendly version is probably intended for tablet use, or hardware that might have limited space. You can view your skydrive with this app, without bringing all 25GB of crap down upon your HDD...

The website is more robust. Pin www.skydrive.com to your Win8 start menu and skip this thing. You can also on the website add the actual (non WinRT) software and have a local folder in your filesystem be synced to skydrive across multiple computers.
This app should be pulled until it can actually add some useful functionality.

Dear developers, you've been doing a really good job with Skydrive functionality and integration, but you may have missed one basic, important thing - please make folders downloadable. This is especially frustrating if a user has music albums organized into folders.

Like sky drive alot but file icons even in their smallest form are way to big and there is no ability to sort by day. I think traditional Windows explorer "detail" view would help alot. Also, definitely need an exe type client that automatically saves on c drive for Rt devices.thx

ZERO phone support (Microsoft actually hung up the phone). Files are stuck in the cloud with no way to retrieve them. Download function is dysfunctional. 1TB was the incentive. Still a stupid thing to do. I'm going back to dropbox. It just works! Microsoft - YOU SUCK!!!

Trying to update 8 to 8.1 suddenly I have skydrive, but windows cannot update to 8.1.
This is so bad, I am thinking about buying a MAC!!!!

I opened a skydrive acct on line. Have been trying to figure out how to "SYNC" it to my Windows 8 app. You need more info on your website - not just links to blogs.

SkyDrive with OneNote makes syncing files between all my devices easy. I can jot down ideas on the go with my phone or take notes in class with my tablet and have it available on my desktop when I get home; long gone are the days of plugging in a USB cable or having to email notes to myself just so I can access them on my home pc.

This app is essentially a file picker for the online version of your SkyDrive contents. To get dropbox style file sync for offline use and easy uploading (as I think most users would expect - I certainly did), you have to know to download and install the SkyDrive desktop app. The lack of integration between the two is baffling.
