1.Background play support: When maximized on Surface tablet it won't override inactivity timeout and then goes to a black screen. Kinda hard to watch a long movie without having to interact with the screen.

As others have stated it doesn't find the media server if the app is installed on the same PC the server is installed on. Stupid!!!

The interface is nicely done and the player allows videos to be played without the Media Center extensions for Windows 8.1. The player does create excessive overhead on the PlayOn server: streaming MyMedia from server with Quad Core processor was using 98% of all 4 cores. Totally unacceptable when the video was playing direct and using no transcoding. Additionally, the media player process remained opened and running on the server after the video was stopped and app closed on remote PC. App needs work.

I have a lot of videos on my networked computer, that with Windows 8 would require a purchase of Windows Media Center add on. Play On takes care of that while integrating the rest of the TV available including Amazon, Hulu, Redbox, etc. It really simplifies things. The only reason is I didn't give it 5 stars because Time Warner doesn't play nice with the live shows available from various networks. I can watch Time Warner live through there website, so it's not a show stopper, but doesn't quite integrate everything. The video is crystal clear on my Surface Pro, and meets my discerning requirements. Nicely done!

I`m having trouble connecting Playon ..Discovery Diagnostics, ,1, This device is connecting to you home network from local IP Address 192.168.1.5. 2. This device is connecting to the Internet from public IP Addy 192.xx.xx.xx How do I make the change so that they are both the same?? Thanks in advance...

Does not find the PlayOn server if running the app and PlayOn server on the same machine. It works fine from another machine. Please Fix!!!
