For anyone that's having issues with printing, and wondering how to do it on a tablet: If you open the charm menu you can select devices from the menu and print from there.

It's a decent enough viewer, and it allows me to print just fine, not sure why people can't learn to press Ctrl+P or summon the charms. As to getting out of the app, press the Windows key on the lower left of your keyboard, or use Shift+Tab or Alt+Tab... And, when you review an app, you're not reviewing Windows. In the Android or Apple app stores you don't see people ranting about their device, because they understand that an app is not the device or the OS on the device; it is an app.

1) Add more highlight colors (at least two colors should be supported so consecutive highlights can be discerned). 1) Make it remember per-document zooming settings. 3) Let me pin documents to the Start screen. 4) Add an option to hide page number when switching pages (so it becomes perfect for presentations). 5) Let me draw directly on pages (which makes taking notes easier). 6) Support PDF digital signatures (PAdES) ☺.

AHHH, it shifted all my annotations!!! Now all my notes look like a mess! Needs more pen colors. Please add the pen color pallet from the OneNote app. Needs an autosave.*** (like how OneNote auto saves when I write) This app should be available for One Drive on-line. I recently found a much better app--Drawboard PDF. I got it on sale and was worth a couple bucks.

Being able to read my own inking is a huge improvement, but there are still need functions. This is good start and maybe other apps will improve on this: 1. Can you please make the page turning gesture less intensive? I don't flick or flip this hard while reading! 2. Can I view all my annotations in a pane like bookmarks? 3. Please make bookmark button more accessible with just one click. Right now it is hidden under another button. 4. Different highlight colors!

I like many features of the reader. I do think however there could be a few things added that would be worthy of giving it five stars. Sometimes when studying a text, I need to answer (a) and (b) type questions. It would be helpful to have at least one more color in which to highlight to be able to quickly select the proper one when referencing later. Thank you! Dec. 3 - Most documents are still highlighting part of the line below where I'm trying to select. I'll give 5 stars when that is resolved and you add another color or two for highlighting! Jan. 6, 2014 Still doesn't have the above issues resolved. Also, it would be helpful to have a button that would fit the document to the screen. Mar. 26: The highlighting is much more accurate. Thanks! I do wish the other above items: i.e. different highlighting colors. Also, it would be awesome to be able to create bookmarks. Thanks, Tracy

Do the developers even use their own app on the surface pro 3? Annotating causes crashes still. You're not a start-up Microsoft.... come on. Also... can we just get some color options?... maybe an easy way to highlight with the surface pen?

This app doesn't have an easy way to manage multiple open documents. If you are reading something and you wanted to check another document along it gets painful to use this modern app and you need to go to the desktop.

I think this app works well with the other files and I would like it a lot more if it supported ePub files.

Just realize that if you right click you can change the view from being just continuous. Allows for highlighting, notes, etc.--pretty awesome! Developer Feedback: (1) Include a feedback mechanism like the other Microsoft Windows 8 apps; (2) enable reading of .epub files; (3) Allow for mouse scroll! That one's BIG to me. (4) And enable pinning! That is SO central to Windows 8 and it needs to be in your app, too! (5) add in multi-doc capability with a drop-down bar like IE or Remote Desktop. I wish it was collaborative. This is one of the last spaces to (1) have good persistent, cloud-based storage, and (2) include collaborative notes and highlights (or at least if there's a product out there like this for PDFs, it's hiding from me!) Needs the ability to rotate PDFs. Also, need to be able to double-click on a word with a mouse and drag to select word-by-word rather than a character at a time (try this in Word and OneNote for a good and bad example)

Really easy to use and fast but... Please Add EPUB support please!! Edit: You can print by going to Devices -> More -> Select your Printer -> Print

That is why it is called READER... It is not meant to be a editor at all. It is meant to be a Modern UI replacement to Adobe's Reader that also reads Microsoft's XPS format... If you want to edit your documents, pay for something like Adobe Acrobat... Also to the people that don't know how to print, you just don't know how to use Windows 8 correctly. Didn't you watch the video when you first installed it... Move your mouse to the right corner, then click devices, and your printer will be there.

In desktop mode, I find it cumbersome to switch between my document and the reader PDF. If I want to copy and paste a section from a PDF in reader mode, I need to shortcut to my word document to paste it. I prefer being able to have the PDF reader and word document open side by side -- not the snap feature which prohibits any reading because the text is so condensed. Lastly, I always need to zoom to read anything. The zoom is temporary and does not stick with the current PDF.

Simply horrible!

I need a reader that syncs across my many devices. Including any annotations made on another device. My files are in OneDrive so this really isn't difficult. And remove the "Save" button, it should be automatic.

Searching for how to print pdf doc via reader now... usability is 1 out of 10!

I agree with the last guy. No change log/what's new is really lazy. Geez even if it says "bug fixes" and not much else. Release notes = "Not Applicable" ... Really???

I have no idea how to close a Reader document due to your crappy design. Seriously, Windows 8 sucks!

17 January 2013

I download/open a document. I guess Windows 8 defaults to Reader. Once in reader, there are no easy to find ways to mover around the document or more importantly, go back to the internet page I was looking at. To me this is absolutely awful. Where is the "back" function or instructions on what we are supposed to do now. In old windows we could right click and navigate through most things. Now we get nothing of any value and no screen guides. Very frustrating.

Trying to like this app but it not easy to use, can't close it out easy, it opens when you don't want it too. Hard to get around.

Off topic: I wish there was a reply button so we could respond to some of these people! PRINT works! Multitasking works! CLOSING works! Save from the browser! AND learn to use the #@#@ OS. Its not that hard! Review: 1. Now the Eraser DOES work w/nTrig pens 2. Inked stylus text no longer corrupts 3. App no longer force closes as easily Still needs work: -Inking detail/resolution should be increased -Stylus input doesn't provide pen color options -You can't highlight from the stylus

This would be much more useful to me if there was an option to REMEMBER the reading settings (pages vs. continuous) from instance to instance. Every time I open a new file, it resets.

Strange how people leave feedback because of their lack of knowledge with windows. 1. Any printing in windows 8 is done from the right side Charms. One of these charms is a device Charm that will access any device that can be used with app. Click it, select your printer (if its even hooked up), and print.. really? 2. Select your text, right click and choose highlight..? figure it out.. ..or just rate the app one star cause you cant print or highlight.. you are just rating yourself..
