WP Message Backup

New: Support for Windows 10 Mobile and a fix for a common issue that stopped downloading messages or prevented the app from finding your phone. Your Windows Phone backs up your text messages, but WP Message Backup is the first app to give you detailed access to those messages. In this beta version of the app, you can browse and export all of the messages you’ve sent or received. It supports normal SMS text messages, picture messages, group messages, video message, and pretty much anything else. You can export messages and conversations as plain text, CSV, or XML. WP Message Backup does not allow you to send text messages. A Microsoft Account with an associated Windows Phone is required, and that phone must be set to backup text messages (to configure this, look under Backup in Settings). Note: WP Message Backup is not created by Microsoft or associated with Microsoft in any way.

Features:

  • Read your text messages without needing your phone nearby
  • Export messages for archival or analysis

1st. Let me thank the dev for supporting Win RT. There are a ton of ARM Surface and Lumia's out there. UWA is really RT with .XAML and .APPX so this isn't that a big hairy deal to think of us RT orphans that spend money at the store. Orphan kudos completed, damn. It's nice to not to HAVE to keep the phone handy. With the new ability to power OFF Win 10 Mobile while hooked to a charger for faster re-fills, this becomes the missing tablet/desktop app to make that happen. OK. Sad you cannot reply at this time. At least you won't miss the important msg. while re-charging ASAP. Sweet and thanks.

You used to be able to see your SMS conversations on Microsoft's websites when you logged in, but that was removed for some reason. Thank Goodness for this app!! Now I can see and save all of my text messages again! Great work! It seems to only go back 1 year though. Not sure if that's a Microsoft limitation or what. Thanks for making this app!

Someone finally did it! Wow! Please give option to change "theme" (text background) color, text color, app background dark, and text size.

I don't know why this was such an issue for soooooo looooooong. Probably part of our legal system gone completely out of control. Anyway it works great in its basic/Beta form. Cant wait for features and improvements, can only get better. MS please don't discontinue, disallow, block or otherwise stop this APP.

Works great! Another example of a developer stepping up and filling a hole MS created.

Thank you so much for developing this text backup App. Microsoft should thank you because you just save their customers from switching to iPhone or Android. I was ready to switch to Samsung so I could backup my text messages. Thank you again. No complaints!

I've given it a full review on Microsoft's Community forum, where I first heard about this. My review is more than 1000 characters which is why I can't post it all here :) http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/winphone/forum/wp8-wptext/sms-backup/daabcc3e-696c-4536-b501-b161eb06668a?page=5&tm=1433818005867

I've been looking for a way to view the onilne text msg backup for a while. This is awesome! My only gripe with it so far is that my 2 factor login had to be turned off to sign in.
